Every single place
we enter, be they restaurants, bars,
hotels, Victoria Secret or even the dry cleaners, we are greeted with these
words accompanied by a huge smile. We will always answer the question, the
smile and ask them the same question back.
And we love it
every time.
It seems to be the
American way of interacting that is often criticised for being superficial,
fake or some other negative thought.
So Sunny and I
wonder what is so wrong with total strangers asking you how you are doing
wether they mean it or not?
What does it even
matter if they mean it or not?
You answer the
question or you don’t and both ways is fine with them.
To us this American
way feels like a polite welcoming gesture to a place you are going to do your
business in. Spending time or money
where it is very clearly expressed that your time or money is appreciated feels
great and surely a whole lot better than spending either of both where they actually
express very little to no interest at all.
The American greeting style is one of the many things that
we love during our road trip through the US.
